Reclaimed sleepers have previously been treated with creosote, therefore, we recommend using them for:

1. Growing vegetables or edible crops (such as a raised bed area)
2. Areas that will be in frequent contact with the skin (including but not limited to seating areas, steps that will be walked on with bare feet, tables where food will be served)
3. Do not use in indoor areas
4. Do not use for children’s play areas

We recommend wearing gloves when handling reclaimed railway sleepers.
